Lakeside Village Apartments in San Leandro Celebrates the Holidays

Haydee Pelayo Nuño, our PSCDC Resident Services Coordinator for our Lakeside Village Apartments community in San Leandro, helped residents enjoy their holiday season by organizing two community events. On the 16th, Lakeside Village Apartments enjoyed a Christmas Stocking event, and on the 21st, children who have been participating in the after-school program received toy donations.

Residents were excited to see and take pictures with Santa Claus next to the Christmas tree that the community helped decorate. This event was his second time stopping by Lakeside Village Apartments. The last time he came for a visit was three years ago. Haydee and PSCDC would like to thank Jose, Lakeside Village Apartments' Recreational Assistant, for volunteering to support the event and bring smiles to the community. After meeting Santa, residents picked up their Christmas stockings, Xfinity bags prepared by our partners at Xfinity Communities, and some freshly baked cookies from Cake 4 Kids to enjoy at home. During the event, 50 residents, including parents, attended, with Haydee and her volunteers distributing 35 Christmas stockings and 25 Xfinity bags with coloring books, stickers, candy, toys, and art and crafts kits. A big thank you goes to the volunteers that helped Haydee: Dooa, Sara, Sandra, and Leyah! Also, a special thank you goes to Stephanie Sanchez, AMC-Property Manager at Lakeside Village Apartments, for providing support year-round for our resident services program.

This year, Lakeside Village Apartments also participated in the Marine Corps' Toys for Tots toy drive, which aims to deliver toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. Haydee obtained 30 toys for the young residents of the community who attended the after-school program consistently throughout the year and their siblings. Vanessa, a Lakeside Village Apartments resident and a parent of two boys and a step-daughter, was having a tough year, and being able to receive toys for her children was a blessing. She felt very grateful that she could provide her children with toys this holiday season.

To start the New Year celebrations, Haydee intends to show her gratitude towards the volunteers that have helped her throughout this year. Her volunteers have made a massive difference in her program, and events were successful due to their kindness, compassion, and support. For their reward, volunteers Dooa, Sara, Sandra, and Leah will have a special Olive Garden lunch next month in January!
