June Activities at Versa at Civita in San Diego
Jelena Predojevic, our Resident Services Coordinator that works with our senior residents at Versa in Civita in San Diego, has a lot planned over the summer for her residents. Versa residents have been staying fit mentally and physically with art/ESL/computer classes, Take a Walk with Jelena sessions, health seminars with local health partners, frequent self-care check-ins, and many more activities.
PSCDC places high importance on providing our senior communities with plenty of opportunities, resources, and contacts for mental and physical well-being. In June, Jelena was able to host another popular health and wellness workshop with the help of our friends at the San Diego Family Circle Adult Day Health Center. June's workshop focused on fall prevention, which helps prevent an issue that is dangerous and frequent for seniors. Doctor Ho from the Health Center met with our residents to help them identify potentially dangerous falling hazards and how to avoid them. After the presentation, attending residents stayed to play a few rounds of BINGO with take-home prizes for the winners!
Jelena and other PSCDC Resident Coordinators with senior communities provide senior companionship for residents as part of the mental well-being services we offer. Jelena invites Versa residents to enjoy long walks around Civita Park and its recreational center with her as they talk about life, issues, and self-care. Jelena offers these walks as an opportunity for her residents to go outside, socialize, and check in with someone willing to listen and help. Many of her regularly attending walkers find these walks a great way to ask for advice and relieve some of their worries.
At the end of June, Jelena plans to have a 4th of July community potluck with a door-to-door summer giveaway for Versa at Civita and Siena Apartments residents in July. BINGO, a popular past-time amongst our seniors, will also be hosted in July with even more prizes at both properties. Residents are looking forward to a summer filled with activities and fun!
