Fun-Filled February For Residents in San Leandro's Lakeside Apartments
In San Leandro, our Lakeside Apartments residents have been having an event-filled month! Haydee Pelayo Nuño, our PSCDC Resident Services Coordinator at Lakeside, has been finding ways to brighten the days of her residents. This month, she planned two community events to have the community come together, along with a Valentine's Day candy distribution for kids! The enforcement of essential safety measures, such as mandatory mask-wearing, maintaining a six-foot distance, and staying home if feeling unwell, has been the reason for these frequent and successful events.
Valentine's Day was made a little sweeter by a candy distribution hosted by Haydee on Saturday, February 13th! Residents lined up to receive their Valentine's Day goodie bags filled with some candy and some DIY masks and bracelets for arts-and-crafts! Haydee also surprised residents by handing out everyone who came with a slice of pizza, courtesy of a local Costco, to celebrate National Pizza Day, which was on the 9th! The Lakeside community embraced friendships together this year while enjoying some sweets and a slice of cheese or pepperoni pizza!
Haydee also had some treats planned for Lakeside Apartments' other residents! A community-wide puppy social on Friday, February 19th, had residents stopping by to pick up a treat while our furry residents wagged their tails in happiness! Once again, our friend and partner from Xfinity Community, Jenny Quintero, helped Haydee provide goodie bags filled with treats for her furry residents!
Cake4Kids, a non-profit organization that provides kids with free cake or cupcakes to celebrate their birthdays, has continued to work with Haydee to bring some extra joy to our residents' big occasion. During the stay-at-home order, residents have received cakes and cupcakes to take home and celebrate with their families as a safer alternative to hosting a community birthday party.
As always, Haydee is already planning ahead for the next community event in Lakeside. To celebrate the start of spring, Haydee is planning a spring Easter basket distribution in early April, and her residents are already looking forward to it!
