PSCDC is Helping San Diego Families with Obtaining Essential Supplies

During the final weeks of March, PSCDC and its San Diego coordinators were distributing essential food and resources to eight different properties San Diego properties with the help of local partners. With the mandated stay-at-home order issued by California Governor Gavin Newsome, many California residents and families lost jobs, incomes, and means to provide for themselves during this critical time, especially our residents in affordable housing. PSCDC remains active during the COVID-19 pandemic in all our communities as an essential business that provides relief to our residents and our partners.

On March 23rd, March 25th, and March 30th, PSCDC Resident Services Coordinators held food and supply distributions at Seabreeze, Fairbanks Ridge, Versa at Civita, The Crossings, Fairbanks Terrace, Juniper at the Preserve, Fairbanks Square, and Westminster Manor. Residents and staff took extreme caution and followed the recommendation of the CDC, WHO, and California Department of Health during the distribution to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Residents were served one at a time with staff and volunteers signing on behalf of residents while they received food that was already pre-packaged and pre-portioned. Staff and volunteers also wore required facemasks and disposable gloves while disinfecting and taking other sanitary precautions. Residents observed six feet of social distancing as they waited in line. About 454 PSCDC residents received supplies from these food distributions, which were made possible by our incredible San Diego partners. Thank you to Panera Bread, Einstein Bagels, Feeding San Diego, San Diego Food Bank, Del Sur Neighbors, North County Food Bank, Friends & Family Community Connection, and World Market for providing bread, canned and imperishable food, vegetables, water, toilet paper, and much more.

In preparation for Census Day on April 1st, PSCDC Coordinators provided informational fliers tailored to our residents about the U.S. Census during the distributions. These informational fliers informed PSCDC residents that the services that they enjoy receive funding based on census responses. PSCDC Coordinators are assisting our residents and communities with self-responding to the census through phone calls and emails.

PSCDC is also working on collecting online resources for all California residents to use! Resources that involve food assistance, financial assistance, educational resources, health & wellness information, utility assistance, and updates of COVID-19 are updated daily and as often as possible here.

Our PSCDC residents are also encouraged to contact their Resident Services Coordinators for assistance and personalized resources.
