PSCDC Continues Food Distribution Amidst Virus Crisis
Pacific Southwest Community Development Corporation cares deeply about the livelihoods and health of residents living in our properties. While conducting the appropriate measures and actions instructed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the World Health Organization, PSCDC's Resident Services Coordinators across California are continuing their immense support to our residents. Despite daily resident services being temporarily halted due to the outbreak, Resident Services Coordinators are providing residents, especially seniors, with fresh food distributions.
On March 19th, California Governor, Gavin Newsome, ordered nearly 40 million California residents to stay home to prevent the spread of COVID-19 until further notice. During this time of emergency, local organizations within the San Diego community, along with Pacific Southwest, are coming together to provide relief for communities and families. Our partners and friends at Feeding San Diego have graciously donated masks and canned food on palettes to our senior residents in Versa at Civita. The Del Sur Neighbors, a local organization comprised of a group of families and individuals, immediately contacted our Resident Services Coordinators, Rasha Alrefai and Fatema Neromand, for some of our senior properties, Fairbanks Terrace and Fairbanks Square, and delivered essentials for our senior residents. Villa Andalucia, along with their sister property down the road, Torrey Vale, are also receiving bread, bagels, and citrus through the effort of their Resident Services Coordinator, Cindy Post. The Backyard Produce Project has been an integral part of fresh fruit supplies for our properties, and PSCDC is carefully working with them to coordinate our scheduled food distributions.
During the food distributions, San Diego Resident Services Coordinators are taking extreme caution to prevent further spread of COVID-19. Resident Services Coordinators are continuing to serve residents through a no-touch food distribution service by taking strict consideration of both staff and residents. With the safety precautions mandated by the Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization in mind, our PSCDC staff is observing appropriate social distancing to continue serving communities, during this chaos. Our residents are our top priority during this trying time and will always continue to be in the future.
