PSCDC and Consulate of Mexico Hosts Health Fair at Villa De Las Flores Apartments in Calexico, CA

On Tuesday, October 22, 2019, the Consulate of Mexico and Pacific Southwest Community Development Corporation hosted a health fair for the residents of Villa de Las Flores Apartments and invited our neighboring properties: Villa Del Sol, Villa Primavera, Villa Dorada, and Calexico Family to attend.

The Consulate of Mexico helped host the event and many more agencies including the Imperial Valley Food Bank, Cancer Resource Center of the Desert, Catholic Charities, Clinicas De Salud Del Pueblo, Rite Aid Pharmacy, Alzheimer's Association, CBI Medical Center and Pioneers Memorial Hospital attended the event to give our senior residents information to keep them healthy and active.

Participating residents who had difficulties with vision were fortunate to benefit from free reading glasses thanks to the Consulate of Mexico. Rite Aid Pharmacy also offered residents free flu vaccines and free blood pressure and glucose checks. The main attraction however, was definitely the taco truck provided in part by the Consulate of Mexico. There was a long line of residents who were treated to delicious carne asada and chicken tacos

Thanks to the generous donations of the agencies that attended the health fair, residents participated in a raffle to win some great prizes that included a crock pot and a flat screen TV! Residents also enjoyed the performance of local singer and dancer Maribel Puente!

The health fair drew in 70 families for our Imperial Valley properties and was a huge success with residents commenting that they couldn't wait until the next health fair. It was an incredibly informative and fun fair for all!
