50 Bikes for 50 Kids

Each year community members are asked to nominate deserving youth to receive a brand-new bike. This annual event is coordinated and co-sponsored by the NNTMA (North Natomas Transportation Management Association). This year, Judi Boston-Shedd the Resident Services Coordinator at Willow Glen Apartments in Sacramento nominated 2 very deserving youth from her After School Program.

Both students are very studious, polite, respectful and helpful with the younger children in the program. The students along with the resident Services Coordinator attended the daylong event where the students helped to build their own bikes with the help of highly skilled volunteer bike mechanics. After building is completed, they are then escorted through several stations where they take a souvenir picture with their bike building team, receive a free helmet with professional fitting, receive 2 free bike locks, receive information on bike trails and how to register their new bike and lastly to an area to write a thank you card to the sponsors of the event for this wonderful gift.
