Building A Movement: 29th Annual Affordable Housing and Community Development Conference

Pacific Southwest Community Development Corporation (PSCDC) is proud to be participating in the annual Affordable Housing & Community Development Conference as a non-profit sponsor and invite you to join us at the conference! This year, the event theme is “Building A Movement” and is being held at the spacious Hilton San Diego Bayfront from Wednesday, October 9 for the Pre-Conference Institutes, to Thursday, October 10 for the annual conference. Each information-packed day starts at 8:00 AM and ends at 5:00 PM.
The Affordable Housing & Community Development Conference, hosted by the San Diego Housing Federation, brings together more than 500 developers, builders, architects, lenders, property managers, services providers, and other key players in the affordable housing realm to share innovative approaches to problems faced in affordable housing, community, and economic development. On Wednesday, the Pre-Conference Institutes offers general sessions that thoroughly explains the ins and outs of affordable housing:
The Fundamentals of Affordable Housing Institute is a day-long educational training that provides an overview of the affordable housing development process which includes feasibility, design, construction, finance and operations. If you are an entry-level project manager, member of a board of directors for nonprofit developers, or a staff of public agencies, this is the session you’re looking for!
The Resident Services Support Network (RSSN) Institute offers day-long training, support, and networking opportunities around key and relevant topics related to providing programming in affordable housing communities. The RSSN Institute provides the training needed for resident services professionals to play an indispensable role in change the lives of the residents they work with every day.
As a new addition this year, the Supportive Housing Learning Network (SHLN) Institute fits a critical unmet need for working with homeless people with complex needs. The Institute will bring together organizations to share lessons learned, best practices, and updated techniques to achieve successful outcomes for properties.
On Thursday, the Affordable Housing & Community Development Conference is in full swing with the Executive Director of San Diego Housing Federation Stephen Russell and Managing Director of Homelessness & Strategic Initiatives for the United Way of Greater Los Angeles Chris Ko as keynote speakers, with a special performance by the Voices Of Our City Choir. Between the keynote speeches are a large variety of workshops that cover almost everything about affordable housing.
